In 2023, we were approached by a passionate group of community members with a vision to improve the space along the Driggs to Victor Pathway. Specifically, this group had a vision to create a corridor of wildflowers along the pathway and they approached TVTAP to be their fiscal sponsor to get the organization operational.
It is the second time in the past 6 years that Trails and Pathways has been a fiscal sponsor for an upstart group — the other being Friends of Teton Valley Sports and Wellness.
What is a fiscal sponsorship? It is a practice where a tax-exempt non-profit organization offers its legal and tax-exempt status to another group or project, often a charitable one, that needs to raise funds or apply for grants. It allows the project to receive tax-deductible donations and access the sponsor's resources without having to become a 501(c)(3) organization itself.
We are grateful for the experience and knowledge of our Board and Staff and take seriously the notion that we lead through action. Thanks to both organizations for their continued work in the community and we love being a trusted partner with the non-profit sector in Teton Valley.
