The Teton Basin Ranger District is applying for grant funding to aid in the operation of their summer and winter trails programs. To provide comments about either of these projects please contact Scott Bossell by, District Trail Supervisor, at (208) 354-6619 by 1/26/22.
Project: SUMMER TRAIL MAINTENANCE - 2023
Location: TETON BASIN RANGER DISTRICT, Big Holes Mountain range, located in between Driggs and Rexburg
Purpose: Address steep trail grades and poor trail location are leading to deteriorating trail conditions and erosion.
Details:
funding for Conservation Corps crews to clear trees and brush from the proposed trails
clean and repair drainage features
construct new drainage features where necessary
District Trail Crew personnel provides supervision.
District Trail Crew will also use the 30” trail dozer where possible to construct new drainage features, repair trail tread, and improve trail conditions.
The Trail Crew and Conservation Corps crews will provide support for this equipment and clear vegetation where necessary.
Project: WINTER TRAIL MAINTENANCE
Location: TETON BASIN RANGER DISTRICT, Big Holes and Teton ranges
Purpose: offer a variety of winter recreation opportunities
Details:
Funding to purchase winter recreation equipment
sign maintenance
visitor education
clearing of winter trails.
support grooming efforts in the Big Holes and Teton ranges.
