Nothing would make the late AJ Linnell grin more than to learn that after almost a decade of hoping, planning, and advocating, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has approved their Teton Valley travel plan to include the AJ Linnell Memorial Trail System that began 9 years ago. Patience has paid off and we are thrilled to announce that AJ's vision for hiking and biking trails that start within Victor city limits will soon be a reality. Thanks to a partnership between the Linnell Family, Teton Valley Trails & Pathways (TVTAP), Mountain Bike the Tetons (MBT), The City of Victor, the BLM, Mountainside Village & other neighbors, and all of YOU, we can now take the next step.
Early April marked the beginning of a 2.5 month fundraising effort to raise the remaining funds we need to build the entire AJ Linnell Memorial Trail. AJ's family, friends, and local community hope to raise a minimum of $50,000 in honor of AJ to help TVTAP and MBT build the 10+ mile loop on the BLM bench that sits below the Tetons on the Idaho side (between the current AJ Trail and Mud Lake). You can make a tax deductible donation through the Community Foundation of Teton Valley at https://cftetonvalley.org/memorial-funds/. Fundraising will end June 28th when we will celebrate AJ and this incredible community effort. We hope you will consider making a donation to turn this dream into a reality. Information on potential hikes and trail work on the AJ Linnell Memorial Trail this summer will be forthcoming.
Mark your calendars for June 28 at Grand Teton Brewing from 4-6pm to acknowledge the 10th anniversary of AJ’s passing, and to (hopefully) celebrate the success of our fundraising effort! Grand Teton Brewing will provide burgers and beers; TVTAP & MBT will be there to share more about the project. Friends, family, neighbors and community members will reconnect in honor of the person we all miss dearly.
