Here’s what’s New:
The Mike Harris parking area is plowed. This is thanks to the Skyliner Motor Club. The Skyliners arranged to keep this parking area open for the remainder of the season. The parking area will be plowed after major storms.
Yeti’s Loop Trail
This is a new Nordic ski route in the Mike Harris area. We plan to adopt grooming of the Yeti’s Loop Trail, but need to secure additional grooming funding and equipment first. This winter we will occasionally groom this loop when we can get equipment over to Mike Harris. The plan is to groom this for both skate and classic skiing. Stay tuned to our Grooming Report for the latest grooming update.
BPA (powerline) Road
The Skyliners groomed the BPA Rd. between Pole Canyon and Mike Harris for the first time ever on February 2nd. They will continue to maintain this groomed motorized route.
This is a multi-use recreation area, and we are all out there to have fun! This includes walking, running, snowshoeing, skiing, dogs, bikes, sleds, hovercrafts and yetis. This zone is also designated as a winter motorized area, which means snowmobiles are allowed. We are working with the Forest Service to clearly communicate appropriate etiquette use on the maintained trails. Please be respectful to other trail users and have fun out there!
We have been grooming the Nemo and Lady Slipper trails all winter. It’s been a fun challenge, and we have been able to produce some pretty nice and firm trails. The singletrack trails have been popular for people on fat bikes, shuffle skis and snowshoes. Walking/running is allowed on these trails, but if it’s soft and you are leaving a divot, please be respectful of our grooming efforts and consider a different option.
