Join us for a day of trail work and give back to those public lands you enjoy so much. We will be working on the Decoster Trail. All ages are welcome and encouraged.
Thank you to our sponsors:
Where: Decoster Trail. We will be parking on the Pinochle Loop Road/Decoster Trail intersection. See map for directions. Allow yourself 40 minutes of drive time from the traffic light in Driggs to this trailhead. From here, the project area is to the South. Hike accross Pinochle Rd. and down the trail (trail #012) into Bull Elk Creek (0.7 mi).
Maintenance details: We will be rerouting about 1500 feet of trail. The existing trail takes the fall line at a steep grade straight down into Big Elk Creek drainage and is a ditch for sediment and debris during rain storms and runoff. We will construct a new section of trail utilizing the topography of the terrain that will be much more sustainable and friendly for trail users. The reroute is in a pine forest on a north-facing hillside.
Meet: Carpooling encouraged. Meet at the USFS building in Driggs to carpool or follow us out to the work area.
